Send files between your devices

Send files of any size from PC to phone, phone to PC or PC to PC. Interrupted transfers resume and every file is verified.

Files go straight from one device to the other over your network, end-to-end encrypted. There is no size limit: files move in 1 MiB pieces, each one checked, and an interrupted transfer continues where it stopped.

Steps

  1. From the PC

    Select the device under My devices and drop files on Send files, or click choose files. In File Explorer you can also right-click files › Send with Personal Bridge, or use Send to › Personal Bridge.

  2. From the phone

    Tap Files (or Photos) on the home screen and pick what to send. From any other app, use Share › Personal Bridge and choose the PC under Send to….

  3. Watch the progress

    The transfer list shows progress. Done · integrity verified means the file arrived complete. To stop, use the ✕ (Cancel transfer).

  4. Find the received file

    On the PC files go to Downloads\Personal Bridge (shown under Settings › About › Received files). On Android 10 and later they go to Download/Personal Bridge; on Android 8–9 they stay inside the app.

My Drop: a shelf for later

Put in My Drop sends a file or a note to the other device’s My Drop instead of the Downloads folder: a personal inbox for things you want to deal with later. Items delete themselves after 7 days unless you change it (up to 30 days).

Good to know

  • If a connection drops, the transfer resumes on its own once the devices reconnect, even after a restart. Partial data waits in a hidden .pdb-partial folder.
  • The receiving device must allow Receive files for the sender (allowed by default).
  • The PC shows “The device is offline” when it can’t reach the other device. See Devices can’t see or reach each other.
  • Command line: pdb send <device> <files or folders>; received files go to ~/Downloads/Personal Bridge, or use --download-dir.
