Share the clipboard and snippets
Send copied text to another device with one click or Ctrl+Shift+B, keep snippets in step and turn on a received clipboard history.
Clipboard sharing is always something you do on purpose: nothing is read or sent in the background. What you send lands directly in the other device’s clipboard, ready to paste.
Steps
Send from the PC
Open the device and use Clipboard › Send clipboard. Type text, or leave the box empty to send what you copied. From any app, press Ctrl+Shift+B, pick the device and press Enter.
Send from the phone
Tap Clipboard on the home screen. Leave the text empty to send the phone’s current clipboard.
Paste on the other device
The text is placed in the clipboard automatically if that device allows Clipboard for the sender (the default). Just paste.
Snippets
Snippets are reusable pieces of text such as an address or a sign-off, kept the same on your devices. On the PC open Snippets & clipboard › New snippet, then Sync now; on Android use the Snippets tile. Both devices must allow Snippets. Send to …’s clipboard puts a snippet straight into the other device’s clipboard.
Received clipboard history
On the PC, Snippets & clipboard › Received clipboard history keeps what you receive so you can copy it again later. It is off by default, kept in memory only, never written to disk and cleared when the app restarts.
Command line
pdb clip <device> "text" (omit the text to send the clipboard), pdb snippets, pdb history --on. Organisations can keep resident registration and card numbers out of the clipboard with a policy.
