Tap Scan document › Start scanning, point the camera at the page, then tap Send PDF and text to PC. The phone finds the page edges, straightens the page and recognizes the text, and you get a PDF plus a text file in Downloads\Personal Bridge on the PC.

At a glance

  • Page edges are found and the page is straightened automatically.
  • Korean and English text recognition (OCR) produces a text file next to the PDF.
  • Several pages go into one document.
  • Scanning happens on the phone; the images aren’t sent anywhere else.

Step by step

  1. Start the scanner

On the phone tap Scan document › Start scanning.

  2. Capture the pages

Point the camera at the page; it is captured once the edges are found. Add more pages if the document has them.

  3. Send it to the PC

Tap Send PDF and text to PC and choose the PC.

  4. Open the result

The PDF and the text file arrive in Downloads\Personal Bridge on the PC.

Requirements

The scanner uses Google’s on-device document scanner and text recognition, so the phone needs Google Play services. Everything is processed on the phone before the files go to your PC.

After the scan

The text file lets you copy and edit what was on the paper. Need a paper copy back? Print the PDF from the phone on the PC’s printer with SmartPrint.

Questions

Does it need Google Play services?

Yes. The scanner and text recognition come from Google and run on the phone, so phones without Google Play services can’t use it.

Which languages does the text recognition read?

Korean and English.

Are my scans uploaded anywhere?

No. Scanning happens on the phone, and the PDF and text go directly to your paired PC, end-to-end encrypted.
