Print with SmartPrint

Print from your phone on your PC’s printers, or on another PC’s printers, with a recommendation for duplex, 2-up and colour.

SmartPrint sends a document to a paired PC and prints it there. It lists that PC’s printers and recommends settings such as double-sided, two pages per sheet or black-and-white.

Steps

  1. Make sure the PC allows printing

    Print is allowed by default. If you changed it, set it back to Allow in the phone’s permissions on the PC.

  2. Print from the phone

    Tap Print on PC, choose a PDF, image (PNG, JPEG) or text file, pick the printer and print.

  3. Print on another PC

    On the PC open the other device and use Print on this device (SmartPrint) › Show printers. Pick a printer; the recommendation is preselected.

Formats

PDF, HWP/HWPX, photos and text are supported. Printing PDF on Windows uses SumatraPDF when installed, otherwise the default PDF app. HWP needs extra software: see Print and preview HWP documents.

Command line

pdb printers <device> --for report.pdf shows printers and the recommendation; pdb print <device> report.pdf --smart prints with it.
