Browse shared folders on another device
Open folders that your PC shares, read-only, and download just the files you need to your phone or another PC.
Instead of sending files one by one, share a folder on the PC and browse it from your other devices. Shared folders are read-only.
Steps
Share a folder on the PC
Open Settings › File sharing › Share a folder. Use Stop sharing to remove it again.
Allow file browsing
On the same PC open the device that may browse › Permissions and set File browsing to Allow.
Browse and download
On the phone tap PC files; on another PC open the device › Browse files › Open shared folders. Pick a file and Download.
Good to know
- Nothing outside the shared folders can be opened, and nothing can be changed or deleted.
- Downloads are checked for integrity. On Android they go to
Download/Personal Bridge. - Command line:
pdb share add Docs ~/Documents,pdb browse <device> Docs,pdb fetch <device> Docs/report.pdf.
