Sync a folder between your phone and PC

Keep one folder identical on your Android phone and PC, or two PCs, in both directions. Old versions are kept 30 days and conflicts lose nothing.

Available in preview Updated Works on
  • Windows
  • Android
  • Linux

Add a folder with the same name under Folder sync on both devices, allow it in their permissions, and click Sync now. New, changed and deleted files are carried over in both directions, and because sync runs only when you ask, you always know when data moves.

At a glance

  • Two-way: changes on either side are carried over.
  • Replaced or deleted files are kept for 30 days in a hidden .pdb-versions folder.
  • On a conflict, the newer file wins and the other copy is kept.
  • Runs when you click Sync now, not constantly in the background.

Step by step

  1. Allow folder sync on both devices

Each device must allow Folder sync for the other one in its permissions. It is off by default.

  2. Add the folder on the PC

Open Folder sync › Add a folder and choose the folder to keep in step.

  3. Add it on the phone

Tap Folder sync › Add folder and give it exactly the same name as on the PC.

  4. Sync

Click Sync now. Run it again whenever you want both sides to match.

Where the files live on Android

On the phone, synced folders live in the app’s own storage under Sync/<name>. Use the Folder sync screen in the app to add, open or share files there.

Pick the right tool

  • Folder sync: one folder you work on from both sides.
  • Photo backup: a growing one-way copy of your camera roll on the PC.
  • File browser: grab a few files from a shared PC folder, read-only, without syncing anything.

Questions

Does it sync automatically?

No. It runs when you click Sync now (or pdb sync on the command line), so you decide when data moves.

I deleted a file by mistake. Can I get it back?

Yes, for 30 days. Replaced and deleted files are kept in the hidden .pdb-versions folder.

What if I edit the same file on both devices?

The newer version wins and the other copy is kept, so nothing is lost.

Can I sync two PCs?

Yes. Folder sync works between any two paired devices, as long as each allows Folder sync for the other.
