Transfer files from Android to PC without a cable
Send photos, videos and documents from your Android phone to a Windows PC over Wi-Fi, end-to-end encrypted, with no account and no size limit.
Install Personal Device Bridge on your Android phone and your Windows PC, pair them once with a QR code, then tap Files on the phone and pick the PC. The files travel directly over your Wi-Fi, end-to-end encrypted, so there is no cable to find, no cloud upload and no account to create.
At a glance
- No size limit: files move in 1 MiB pieces, and each piece is checked.
- An interrupted transfer picks up where it stopped, even after a restart.
- Files land in
Downloads\Personal Bridgeon the PC. - Send from any Android app through the Share menu.
- Nothing is uploaded to a server along the way.
Step by step
Install both apps
Get the Windows app (Windows 10 21H2 or later, or Windows 11, 64-bit) and the Android APK (Android 8.0 or later) from the download buttons on this site. When Windows asks about network access, allow private networks.
Pair the phone with the PC
With both on the same Wi-Fi, click Add device on the PC and tap Scan QR code on the phone. Tap Allow on both only if the two 6-digit codes match.
Pick files on the phone
Tap Files (or Photos) on the phone’s home screen, choose what to send and select your PC.
Or share from another app
In your gallery, file manager or any other app, use Share › Personal Bridge and pick the PC under Send to….
Open the files on the PC
Wait for Done · integrity verified in the transfer list, then open
Downloads\Personal Bridge. Settings › About › Received files shows the exact folder.
If a transfer stalls
Most stalls have one of two causes: the phone pauses the app to save battery, or Windows treats your Wi-Fi as a public network and blocks incoming connections. Set Personal Bridge to unrestricted battery use (Stop Android from pausing the app) and your network profile to Private (Allow the app through the firewall). On guest or office Wi-Fi that keeps devices apart, see Fix Wi-Fi client isolation (guest and public Wi-Fi).
My Drop instead of Downloads
Want to deal with a file later? Put in My Drop sends it to the PC’s My Drop shelf instead of the Downloads folder. Items delete themselves after 7 days unless you change it (up to 30 days).
Questions
Do I need a USB cable or an account?
No. Pairing uses a QR code on the PC, the devices talk over your own network, and there is no sign-up of any kind.
How fast is it?
On Wi-Fi your network is usually the limit. For big files, put the PC on 5 GHz Wi-Fi or a cable and keep the phone close to the router.
Can I choose a different download folder on the PC?
Not in the desktop app yet; it always uses Downloads\Personal Bridge. The command-line tool accepts --download-dir.
What if my phone isn’t on the same Wi-Fi as the PC?
Pairing needs the same network once. After that, paired devices find each other over the internet automatically; see Connect over the internet.
