Right-click any page, link or selection in Chrome or Edge and send it to your phone, or press Alt+Shift+S to send the current tab.

Available in preview Updated Works on
  • Windows
  • Browser

With the Personal Device Bridge extension in Chrome or Edge, right-click a page, link, image or selection and choose Send to device, or press Alt+Shift+S to send the current tab. The page opens on your phone. The extension is in testing: the store listings are still in review, so you join through the help center for now.

At a glance

  • Send to device in the right-click menu for pages, links, images and selected text.
  • Alt+Shift+S sends the current tab to the device you used last.
  • Selected text goes to the device’s clipboard; pages, links and images open there.
  • The extension talks only to the app on your computer and makes no network requests itself.
  • Chrome and Edge 116 or later.

Step by step

  1. Get the extension

The Chrome Web Store and Edge Add-ons listings are still in review. Until they are published, testers get the extension by email; Use the Chrome and Edge extension explains how to join.

  2. Connect it to the app

Run install-windows.ps1 from the tester package to install the browser connection helper, then restart the browser. The desktop app must be running.

  3. Send a tab

Right-click the page › Send to device, or open the toolbar popup and choose Send this tab.

  4. Continue on the phone

In the popup, Continue on <device> hands over the current page so you can keep reading on the phone.

What it does and doesn’t do

  • It works only with devices you have already paired in the app.
  • It never sends files. For a file, use the app, or a one-time link for someone without the app.
  • Change the shortcut at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

Questions

Is the extension in the Chrome Web Store?

Not yet. The Chrome Web Store and Edge Add-ons listings are in review; until then you can join the test.

Does it work without the desktop app?

No. The extension only talks to the Personal Device Bridge app on the same computer, which does the sending.

Can I send selected text?

Yes. Selected text goes to the other device’s clipboard, ready to paste. The popup also has Send clipboard text.
