Automate phone and PC transfers with scripts
Use the pdb command line, or the TypeScript and Python SDKs, to send files, text and links to your paired devices from your own scripts.
For quick automation, call the pdb command line from a script, for example pdb send <device> <file>. For deeper integrations, the TypeScript and Python SDKs talk to the Personal Device Bridge agent on the same computer and can list devices, send files, clipboard text and links, and react to events. The SDKs aren’t on npm or PyPI yet; you request them through the help center.
At a glance
pdbcommands accept--jsonfor machine-readable output.- SDKs for TypeScript (
@personaldevicebridge/sdk) and Python (personaldevicebridge). - Scripts use the same actions as the app, with the same device permissions.
- Only your own user account can reach the local agent.
Step by step
Run the agent
The desktop app runs it, or start it with
pdb agent.pdb agent installstarts it at sign-in.Try the command line
pdb deviceslists paired devices;pdb send <device> <files or folders>,pdb clip <device> "text"andpdb url <device> <address>send things.Get the SDK
The packages and API reference are sent on request while they aren’t published; see Build your own integrations with the SDK.
Connect and send
Your script connects to the local agent and calls the same actions the app uses, such as sending a file to a paired device.
Security
The SDKs talk to the agent over a private channel protected by the operating system and a token, so only your own user account can use it. Devices and permissions stay exactly as you set them in the app; a script can’t do more than you allowed.
Questions
Are the SDKs on npm or PyPI?
Not yet. Request the packages and the API reference as described in Build your own integrations with the SDK.
Can a script on another computer use my agent?
No. The agent’s channel is local and owner-only; scripts run on the same computer, under your user account.
Which systems does it run on?
The agent and pdb run on Windows and 64-bit Linux, and send to any paired device, including your Android phone.
