Move files and text

Copy and paste between Android phone and PC

Send copied text from your PC to your phone with Ctrl+Shift+B, or from the phone with one tap, and keep snippets the same on every device.

Available in preview Updated Works on
  • Windows
  • Android
  • Linux

Copy text as usual, then press Ctrl+Shift+B on the PC (or tap Clipboard on the phone) and pick the other device: the text is waiting in its clipboard, ready to paste. Nothing is read or sent in the background; clipboard sharing only happens when you do it.

At a glance

  • Ctrl+Shift+B sends from any app on Windows.
  • Received text goes straight into the other device’s clipboard.
  • Snippets keep reusable text, such as an address, the same on your devices.
  • Clipboard history is off by default and kept in memory only.
  • On Linux, pdb clip <device> does the same from the terminal.

Step by step

  1. Pair your devices

Pair once on the same network: Add device on the PC, Scan QR code on the phone, and Allow on both when the 6-digit codes match.

  2. Send from the PC

Copy something, press Ctrl+Shift+B, pick the phone and press Enter. Or open the phone in the app and use Clipboard › Send clipboard.

  3. Send from the phone

Copy on the phone, tap Clipboard on the home screen and leave the text box empty to send what you copied.

  4. Paste on the other device

Just paste. The text is placed in the clipboard if Clipboard is allowed for the sender, which is the default.

  5. Save text you reuse as snippets

On the PC open Snippets & clipboard › New snippet, then Sync now. On Android use the Snippets tile.

Your clipboard stays private

The app never watches your clipboard. Text leaves a device only when you send it, travels end-to-end encrypted, and clipboard content is never logged. On the PC, Received clipboard history stays off until you turn it on, lives in memory only and is cleared when the app restarts.

At work

Organisations can keep resident registration numbers, card numbers and other patterns out of the clipboard with a signed team policy that each device enforces itself.

Questions

Does the clipboard sync automatically?

No, on purpose. Every send is something you do, so passwords or private text never move without you.

Does it work when the phone is on mobile data?

Yes. Paired devices connect over the internet when they aren’t on the same network (Connect over the internet).

Can I use it from Linux?

Yes, with the command-line tool: pdb clip <device> "text", or leave out the text to send your current clipboard.

Why don’t my snippets show up on the phone?

Both devices must allow Snippets for each other, and the PC needs a Sync now after you add one.
