Move a Korean 공동인증서 between phone and PC
Copy a Korean certificate (공동인증서, formerly 공인인증서) between Android and Windows, end-to-end encrypted and approved on the receiving device.
On the PC, open the phone and choose Move 공동인증서 › Find certificates on this PC, pick the certificate and click Send to …, then approve on the phone after checking the holder and expiry date. The certificate and its key file travel directly between your own devices, end-to-end encrypted, and the certificate password is never sent.
At a glance
- The receiving device shows the holder’s name and the expiry date before you approve.
- The certificate password is never sent.
- On Windows it is installed into
AppData\LocalLow\NPKI, where Korean banking and government sites look for it. - No certificate is ever stored on a server.

What is a 공동인증서?
A 공동인증서 (joint certificate, formerly called 공인인증서, “accredited certificate”) is the digital certificate people in Korea use with banking and government websites. It consists of a certificate file and a private key file, stored in a folder called NPKI. Moving it to a new device has usually meant a USB stick or an export code; here it goes straight from one of your devices to the other.
Where the certificate ends up
- Windows:
AppData\LocalLow\NPKIin your user folder. - Android: the app keeps it in its own protected storage so you can carry it to another PC. Other apps on the phone can’t use it from there.
- Nothing is uploaded: the certificate never touches a server.
Questions
Can my banking app on the phone use the certificate afterwards?
No. On Android the certificate stays in Personal Bridge’s protected storage, which other apps can’t use. It is there so you can move it on to another PC.
Is my certificate password sent?
No. Only the certificate and its key file are moved; you still type the password where you use the certificate.
Is a 공인인증서 the same thing?
Yes. 공인인증서 is the old name; certificates of this kind are now called 공동인증서.
Can someone send me a certificate without my knowledge?
No. Only a paired device you allowed can send one, and every transfer waits until you check the holder and expiry date and approve it.
